Simon Fichtner is group leader at the Department for Materials Science, Kiel University and Director of Science and Technology at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology. His research focuses on polar thin films, in particular the III-N based ferroelectrics he discovered in 2019. In addition to the basic material science of this novel class of functional dielectrics, he is working on their implementation into devices ranging from neuromorphics to piezoelectric sensors and actuators.
M.Sc. Niklas Kyoushi
PhD Student
Institute for Materials Science
Kiel University
Niklas Kyoushi received his BSc and MSc degree in nanotechnology from Leibniz University Hannover in 2021 and 2023 respectively. From 2020 till 2023 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Micro Production Technology at the Production Center Hannover in Garbsen. In 2023 he did his master thesis at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology and continued working there as Junior Scientist until 2024. Since 2024 Niklas is a PhD Student at Kiel University and focuses on device development of AlScN based memristive devices for neuromorphic computing applications. His work is funded by the EU HORIZON project FIXIT.
